Letter, 1858, May 23.

Letter from L. Osgood in Washington, D.C. to Charles Osgood in Abington, Conn. The author was a draftsman and was waiting to see if his services would be further required by "those in office." He described a large "sporting house" near his boarding house, expressing surprise at the amount of gambling and the immodest behavior of the women. In the letter is an account of an altercation between one of the prostitutes and a gentleman from Philadelphia.
